Introducing The Northants Parent Forum Group

Northants Parent Forum Group (NPFG) is an independent parent-led group formed and run by volunteers to represent the views of all families of children and young people up to aged 25 with special education needs and / or disabilities (SEND) in Northamptonshire.

We achieve this by empowering parents in effective participation with our partners in Education & Social Care within Northamptonshire County Council, our Health partners throughout Northamptonshire and other local organisations to positively improve services for our children and young people.

Local Offer Activities
For those of you, who find the holidays challenging, remember to check out the Local Offer Activities page for activities suitable for children and young people with SEND.

Money Advice Service: Financial support for young carers
Looking after a member of your family who has a disability, illness, mental-health condition or drug or alcohol problem can be a massive commitment. Fortunately there’s financial support available, and support services to help share the load. For more information visit the Money Advice Service website. The Money Advice Service is a not for profit government organisation created solely to help people with their finances.

The Child Support Agency CSA will be changing to the Child Maintenance Service.
What does Child Maintenance cover: Child Maintenance is a legal responsibility for providing help with a child’s everyday living costs. This includes food and clothes and is usually paid by the parent without the main day to day care of a child and is paid to the other parent. It can make a real difference to the child’s life by helping to pay for clothes, food and other essentials.  It can also help to keep both parents involved in children’s lives. Most separated parents arrange the Child Maintenance between themselves either privately or through the Child Maintenance Service. The CMS is only for parents who have been unable to sort out a maintenance payment between themselves. Visit the PayPlan website to assist you further with your child maintenance queries.

Short Breaks
Short breaks are activities for children and young people outside of the school day. These activities can happen in school premises or at other venues around the county ranging from social events to music, dance and sporting activities. Residential short breaks are considered, depending on individual family circumstances. For current information please click here to read the latest SNIX newsletter.

Short Break Idea: Yurts at Grendon
There are "Yurts" to hire for young people in Northamptonshire located at Grendon Hall. The Yurts sleep up to 20 and are ideal for groups who want to explore the local area or relax in stunning grounds. This is an ideal opportunity for families, schools youth groups and friends. For more information please call 01933 666830. More details (pdf brouchure)
